Greenhill Lab Theater
Logo The Greenhill Lab Theater is an intimate, flexible space for theatrical productions, chorus and instrumental music classes.  It is the learning center or laboratory for acting, stage set design, construction and light and sound operation in both traditional and experimental theater form.  Located at Greenhill Middle School, this black box theater provides students the ideal setting for learning the trade.  The facility was designed to piggy-back onto an exisiting cafeteria building, thereby reducing requirements for restrooms and dressing rooms.

Catwalks and electrical appliances were organized so that a fourth grader could participate in technical aspects of theater production with minimum hazard to himself.  Its technical lighting board and other theatrical devices will allow a graduating student to be at home in a professional theater.  The 39-foot ceiling height allows for the minimum flying of scenery.

The multiple use concept gave direction to a simple rectangular space with a flat floor and a mezzanine.  This shape allowed for the seating of the predermined number of persons to be accomodated in the most efficient ways.  By using portable risers and chairs for the many types and kinds of productions, few compromises regarding their effectiveness resulted.
