Dallas Visions for Community
Logo Dallas Visions for Community is a planning process which identifies future design opportunities for the eighth largest city in the United States.  Awarded a citation for urban design in the 40th annual P/A Awards Program sponsored by Progressive Architecture magazine, Visions addresses four aspects of urban design in the city.
They are :
  • Nature (exploiting the city's undervalued river and stream beds).
  • Links (new visual systems to connect parts of the city).
  • Neighborhoods (new "villages in the city" and new public spaces for existing neighborhoods).
  • Downtown (new movement systems and public spaces).
Promotion of the Visions project has included lectures, videos, newspaper supplements and large-scale exhibitions in various locations. Funding for the project has been provided by 28 separate corporations and the National Endowment for the Arts. The culmination of the project has been published in a monograph entitled "Dallas Visions for Community - Toward a 21st Century Urban Design"
